WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The European Lawyers’ Union (U.A.E.) is pleased to invite you to its XXXV ANNUAL CONGRESS on 1 and 2 July 2022 in the magical city of PORTO, Portugal.
The Annual Congress is the main scientific event of each year, usually hosting a varied faculty of practitioners, academics and researchers, representatives of the E.U. and national institutions and members of the business community, around a theme of topical interest.
This year we will focus on The Regulation of Digital Space – The Digital Services Act (DSA) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). This is one of the most important topics in the E.U. agenda and will have a great impact on the legal community for years to come.
After the European Parliament and the Council recently reached a provisional agreement on the DMA and DSA, final approval is expected soon. The conference is thus a great opportunity to discuss the impact of the reform, analyze the proposed changes in the digital and media landscapes, but also assess the effects of the new regulation in our society.
Please check the detailed programme below.
The Congress is open to all, U.A.E. members and non-members alike.
The first session will set the scene with an overview of the Reform of the Digital Space and addressing the main issues of the reform and its main impacts.
The second and third sessions will analyse more in depth the DSA and DMA, respectively, analyzing the impacts on online marketplaces, the risks to platforms and search engines or the obligations to gatekeepers.
Finally, the fourth session will discuss the practical impact of the DSA and DMA on business.
The conference will be in the Sessions Room of the Porto Court of Appeals.
The U.A.E. Executive Committee will convene at the Porto headquarters of the Portuguese Bar Association.
See the detailed programme here.
A welcome drink is organized on Thursday 30 June at 7pm for participants arriving the day before the Congress.
On Friday 1 July, after the conference the U.A.E. invites you to the gala dinner, which will be held at the magnificent Arab Room of the Palácio da Bolsa of Porto.
On Saturday 2 July a guided tour of the city of Porto will take place in the afternoon, including a visit to Porto Taylor’s wine cellars and a boat trip in the Douro river connecting Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia. The dinner will be at Vinum, the restaurant of Graham’s wine cellars, which offers one of the best views to the city.
Finally, join us on Sunday 3 July to a visit to a wine estate in Alto Douro, a region recognized by Unesco as Cultural World Heritage, which includes a visit to the vineyards, wine tasting and lunch.
